STATE OF THE EXPANDED FANDOMVERSE UNION

You’re probably wonder “Hey, when is the next episode of that awesome Star Wars Podcast, THE EXPANDED FANDOMVERSE, going to be posted?!?”

Well, first off, thank you, and secondly, it’s coming, it’s coming…

As I’ve said before, when I started this project, I was giving myself the first 10 episodes to be my “beta-period”.  Well, looking back on the first 10 episodes, they ended up more like an “alpha period”.  Basically, what I am saying is, the show needs a lot of work.  Yes, I am doing this just for the fun of it, but still, I don’t want it to be embarrassing!

So, right now, I am taking a little “breather” before I move into the next phase of the show, and I am working on some improvements.  “Like what?” you ask.  Well, let me tell you…

I am about to start work with someone who can help me create a unique intro, and other segment bumpers, for the show.  Just a little something to give the show a tiny bit of polish and class.

Also, I am about start auditioning for a co-host.  (Look for a post about this soon, if you are interested!)  I listen to a LOT of Star Wars podcasts, and it seems to me that the best shows always have a pair of hosts.  Two people having a conversation is always more interesting then listening to one guy talk to himself.

Also, I am changing the focus of the show just a little bit.  Originally, the idea was to just find a complete stranger and just talk about Star Wars with them.  I still think this is a good idea, but I have found the better conversations I have had, have been the ones when I am talking to someone who is DOING something with their love of Star Wars.  So, from now on, I will still be talking to strangers, but they are going to be strangers who are active and creative.

And because these fellow SW fans are doing things with their fandom, they tend to be busy folks.  So, I may end up going to an every-other week schedule.  I’m still debating that.  ---  Anyway, I have some other ideas too, but for now, these are the ones I want to share.

“So, when is the show coming back?” you ask.  Soon!  Keep checking this page for details.  I do have a show in the can now.  We didn’t end up talking about Star Wars that much, so I will probably release it under the “Bonus Content” banner this weekend.  So, keep an eye out for that.

Anyway, I just wanted to share.  Thank you for your patience, and please keep checking back!  Much appreciated!  In the mean time, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+ and Tumblr.  See ya shortly!

LITTLE HELP PLEASE

Hey Gang!

I am hunting around for some new guests.  I'm slowly evolving the show from "just a couple of fans sitting around talking Star Wars", to, me talking to Star Wars fans doing interesting things with their love of Star Wars.

So, if you know anyone who has a powerful fondness for Star Wars, and has a cool way of expressing that passion, please let me know about them!  I would love to talk to them about what they are doing, no matter what it is!

Thank you for your help!

EPISODE TEN - Timothy Moore & Daniel Wilcox, hardcore Expanded Universe fans

I always think of Star Wars as the movies, first and foremost.  All the other stories, be they told through novels, kids books, comics or video games, to me they are just frosting on the cake.  But, there are some Star Wars fans who came to love that galaxy far, far away through these other stories.  To them, the films are just one piece in a much bigger tapestry.

When Lucasfilm recently declared that the Expanded Universe is not canon, so that the new film makers wouldn’t have their hands tied by the EU stories that have come before, well, this upset a lot of hard core Expanded Universe fans.  This weeks episode is a conversation with Timothy Moore and Daniel Wilcox, two guys who are fighting the good fight to help save the Expanded Universe.  They have set up a Facebook page called “The Alliance to Preserve the Expanded Universe”, and are now taking other steps to hopefully bring about meaningful change.  Even though I am a fan of the EU, I can’t say I agree with them 100%, but I love their passion for this cause.  So please, sit back and listen to what they had to say!

Also, Dan White is back this week to chew on the power cables.  Welcome back Dan!

And on a more personal note, this is the tenth episode.  When I started this project, I told myself that my first ten episodes would be my beta period.  Well, maybe it’s more like my alpha period.  Thanks for sticking around for this first batch of episodes.  I have some new ideas that I hope will improve the quality of the show, and starting next week, you will start to notice some subtle changes.  Please, let me know what you think!  And as always, thanks for listening!
