IT'S BETTER TO KNOW

With the changes to the look of the site I've made today, I also want to make some other changes. I plan on posting more "stuff". I'll still keep up the Tumblr page, because that is a easy and fun, but I plan on more "stuff" here, from time to time, when I have the time. So please, book mark the page and come back often!

Here's a short film Saturday Night Live last night. It made me laugh! I hope it does for you as well.

WOULD IT HELP IF I GOT OUT AND PUSHED?

So, I've "rebooted" this site today.  For a couple reasons...

Technically, the old layout was causing me problems with iTunes (I think... I could be wrong.  I probably am wrong.  The point is, I'm still struggling to get the show in iTunes.)  For some reason I can't figure out, iTunes reads the title of the show as "Episodes", not at The Expanded Fandomverse.  I think it may be because the show was on a page called "Episodes", but, I really dont know.  (That said, "Episodes" would make a great title for a Star Wars podcast!)

Also, the old layout wasn't giving me everything I want.  I've switched to Blogger, which isn't pretty, but it gives me all the things I want on the page.

Plus, Blogger is free (Thank You Google!).  My old hosting service had a small fee.  It was small, but it was still a fee, so...  A penny saved is a penny earned.

And finally, it gave me something to do today with The Expanded Fandomverse.  My plan for today was to post my interview with Mr. Joe Curcio.  Our conversation was the second one I recorded, and was the second one I had technical issues with.  Joe's part of the conversation came out fine, but I could barely be heard, if at all.  My original plan was to just rerecord my half and edit it all together, but that project died a painful death as I tried to put it all together.

Thankfully, Joe has offered to rerecord his episode with me.  So, this week, there wont be a new episode as planned, but as soon as we do, I'll get it up on the site.

Anyway, thanks for visiting, thanks for your patience, and please keep checking back!

EPISODE THREE - Dan White, Super Fan!

(note: I am updating the site today, but I wasn't able to import my old posts, so I have to repost them. This was originally posted on March 23rd, 2014)

This week my guest is my first guest, and also my first returning guest, but he is the third guest.  Let me explain...  Dan White was my first guest on the show, but due to technical issues, I couldn't use the recording.  So, I had Dan back on the show, and this is that show!

Dan is an opinionated and funny fan with a critical eye towards the Star Wars Universe.  I had a lot of fun talking to him, and I hope to have Dan back on in the future.  Please enjoy our conversation!

EPISODE TWO - Jason Collier, the Ultimate Star Wars Fan!

(note: I am updating the site today, but I wasn't able to import my old posts, so I have to repost them. This was originally posted on March 18th, 2014)

Well, after a week of more technical struggles and not enough free time, I finally have the second episode of The Expanded Fandomverse up and running!  Don't worry, there wont be such a wait for the third episode, it's all ready recorded and ready to go.  Heck, I may even post it today!  (maybe...)

Anyway, this weeks guest is Jason Collier, the winner of the title "The Ultimate Star Wars Fan" from Access Hollywood.   Take a listen to learn the full story.  And check out Jason's videos below.

IT IS THE FUTURE YOU SEE.

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with events.  After many technical difficulties, I FINALLY recorded and episode with ZERO technical problems!   Plus, I finally figured how to set up an RSS feed for the show.  And, I have submitted The Expanded Fandomverse podcast to iTunes.  Just waiting for approval now.

I just wanted to share that good news and to say that you should check back tomorrow night, when I plan on having Episode Two posted.  It’s a conversation with Jason Collier, a man who literally holds the title of “The Ultimate Star Wars Fan”!   I also have been able to save most of my earlier talk with Joe Curcio, a vintage Kenner collector.  So, fingers crossed, I will have that up and running shortly as well.

Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.  But, I do expect things to be picking up around here shortly!  Stay Tuned.

EPISODE ONE - Braian & Elias from Customs For The Kid

(note: I am updating the site today, but I wasn't able to import my old posts, so I have to repost them. This was originally posted on March 14th, 2014)

Well, third times a charm!  After three attempts, I finally got one right!  I sat down with Brian & Elias, a father and son team of action figure customizers, on March 8th, 2014.  They are a great pair, and we had an great conversation! - Be sure to check out their website, Customs For The Kid!

Bare with me as I get this show up and running.  I have a lot to learn, technically, and about the art of the interview.  What I took away from this first episode, and what I can easily fix for next time; script my opening remarks.  I see now that I am not the extemporaneous speaker I thought I was.  Also, I need to figure out how to get this show on iTunes and into the world, other then just sitting on this site.  One thing at a time...

And dont forget, you too can be on the show!  Just send me and email - TheExpandedFandomverse@gmail.com

STAY ON TARGET. ALMOST THERE...

(note: I am updating the site today, but I wasn't able to import my old posts, so I have to repost them. This was originally posted on March 3rd, 2014)

OKay, I have finally, and completely, overcome my technical issues!  Three cheers for me!

However, I was not able to save the first episode I recorded.  The sound quality is just a mess! My guest, Dan White, was so great, that I have asked him to re-record the episode with me.  He kindly agreed to do so.  Right now, we are just trying to work out a time that will work for both of us.  Fingers crossed it will be soon.

I have my second episode, with my guest Joe Curcio, done and ready to be posted.  But, it's my second episode.  So it has to wait.

"So what?  Call it your first episode an put it out there.  Come on, we wanna hear it!" you say.  Well...  You're right, I could do that, but...  My love of continuity, plus a touch of OCD, wont allow me to do that.  In my head, the second episode has to remain the second episode.

(Yes, you could argue that the rerecorded first episode is really the third episode, but...  My brain is okay with that.)

Anyway, the whole point of this post is to let you know that The Expanded Fandomverse podcast is on target, and coming along along nicely behind the scenes.  It's moving along slowly, but it is move along!

Thanks for your patience!  Keep checking back for more updates!

DON'T BE TOO PROUD OF THIS TECHNOLOGICAL TERROR YOU'VE CONSTRUCTED.

(note: I am updating the site today, but I wasn't able to import my old posts, so I have to repost them. This was originally posted on February 27th, 2014)

I'm having technical problems.

So, I've recorded two episodes.  All seemed okay at the time I was recording the interviews.  But... when I sat down to do some post production, I ran into some "issues".

With the first episode, the recording of my guest, Mr. Dan White, came out very echoy.  (is that a word?)  It's almost unlistenable.  (is that a word as well?)  Almost.  You can understand him, but it's annoying.  I don't imagine that anyone would want to listen to the recording unless they really had to do so. - The most annoying part is that Dan sounded fine when we were having our conversation.  Ugh!

I discovered the problem after the interview, and so I made some tweaks to my software.  So, that brings me to my second interview, with Mr. Joe Curico.  Once again, everything sounded great while we were recording, but...  When I listened to the conversation afterward, you can barely hear my end of things.  Joe is there, clear as a bell, but I am just a whisper in the background.

On the bright side, I can probably save this one and just rerecord my questions and interjections, and then edit it all together.  It wont feel "honest" to me, but it can be fixed. Well, tomorrow, I have a third try.  Mr. Jesus Perez is going to sit down with me tomorrow for an interview.  Fingers crossed I can figure this out by then.  If not...

Anyone know an audio-podcasting-technical-genius-Jedi who can save me from myself?  My problem is that I know what can be done, I just can't always figure out how to do it.

YOU HAVE YOUR MOMENTS. NOT MANY OF THEM, BUT YOU DO HAVE THEM.

(note: I am updating the site today, but I wasn't able to import my old posts, so I have to repost them. This was originally posted on February 26th, 2014)

I have lots of free moments on my calendar.  In fact, I have just posted a public calendar, so you can see when I am free.  If you see a free moment that works for you, let me know, and I will schedule you in as a guest on The Expanded Fandomverse podcast! Here is the calendar link.  I think it's easier to read when you have it in weekly mode. All times are US Eastern.  - https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=theexpandedfandomverse%40gmail.com&ctz=America/New_York

The calendar only stretches into the next few weeks, but I will be updating it shortly.  If you don't see anything that works for you now, please check again in the near future.

WE RAN INTO SOME OLD FRIENDS.

(note: I am updating the site today, but I wasn't able to import my old posts, so I have to repost them. This was originally posted on Feburary 25th, 2014)

Well, new friends actually... I am happy to report that I have (kinda) lined up my first 9 guest on The Expanded Fandomverse podcast!  Now, all I need to do is figure out a time when I can sit down and talk with each of these people.

All nine people are complete strangers to me, which is great!  That's what I wanted; to meet new people and hear their stories.

"How did you find and convince 9 complete strangers to sit down and talk to you?" you ask?   Well, what I did is, I went on Facebook, joined a bunch of Star Wars groups (47 to be accurate).  Then, last night just before I went to bed, I posted a message in each group that read...
Hi- I apologize, I know this is off topic, but I am starting a Star Wars podcast about Star Was fans. I am looking for people to interview about their love of all things Star Wars. Please take a look at www.TheExpandedFandomverse.com and let me know if you have any interest.
Again, I am sorry for going off topic. Just trying to spread the word. May The Force Be With You!
It felt a little "spammy", but it worked.  I woke up this morning with 9 people saying "Yes!".  (plus one "maybe".)

Who knows, maybe by the end of the day, I'll have 9 more! Now comes the hard part, actually doing what I planned on doing.  I hope to do the first interview tomorrow, and have the first episode soon afterwards!  Keep checking back!

THIS IS WHERE THE FUN BEGINS...
