EPISODE 034 - Marcelo Zuniga

Sometimes, it's the simple things in life…

Our guest this week, Mr. Marcelo Zuniga, had a simple idea, which quickly took off and went viral.  Marcelo has a YouTube channel that is pretty much nothing but Star Wars clips.  Well, recently, he put together a side by side comparison of the theatrical releases of the films, and the multiple "special editions" we've had over the years.   Like I said, simple.

This is stuff we, as Star Wars fans know about, and have all seen before.  But, when he posted it on YouTube, it soon spread like wildfire!  It was featured on Nerdist, io9, Collider, Geekology, Slate, Indiewire, Screenrant, and many many MANY others.

Marcelo and I had a great conversation about all the changes, giving our opinions on what works, what doesn't, what bothers us, and what we would like to change.

Also this week, we unceremoniously mark our one year anniversary!  Yes, The Expanded Fandomverse has been coming your way for a year now!  It snuck up on us, so we didn't have time to plan anything special, but we chat a bit about this special occasion this week, and look back on the year we've had.

Or rather, I should say I babble about it for a bit, because, unfortunately, I (Tim) was alone this week!  Neither Dan nor Jason could join me this week, so I was left all alone, to talk to myself, like I did in the "beta period" of the show!

And remember, don't forget Jason's Jawa Giveawy (Utinni!).  Just use the hostage  #FANDOMVERSE on Social Media by the end of the month, and you will be in the running for a copy of The Force Awakens teaser poster!

EPISODE 033 - Don Sucher from Sucher & Sons Star Wars Shop

Of all the guests we've had on the show, I don't think we've had anyone on who loves what they are doing, quite as much our guest this week.  And that's saying quite a lot!

This week we talk with Don Sucher, proprietor of Sucher & Sons Star Wars Shop in Aberdeen, Washington.  Don's store is all Star Wars, all the time!  New and old Star Wars collectables grace the shelves of Sucher & Sons for you to play with and to purchase.

During our conversation with Don, we conducted our first "man on the street" interviews, as we take a moment to chat with customers in the store!  And we also put Don through "The Mind Probe", and send him down the "Trench Run" where we quiz him on Star Wars merchandise!

Be sure to check them out at www.SucherAndSonsStarWarsShop.com!  And on Facebook at Facebook.com/SucherandSonsStarWarsShop!

Also in this episode, we again remind you about Jason's Jawa Giveaway (Utinni!).  You can win a copy of The Expanded Fandomverse teaser poster, simply by using the hashtag #FANDOMVERSE on your favorite social media outlets.  And, this week, we begin our campaign to have The Expanded Fandomverse added to the incomparable Wookieepedia!

EPISODE 032 - Sarah & Richard Woloski from "Skywalking Through Neverland"

Better late than never, right?

We recorded this episode last week, the day after the big Star Wars panel at San Diego Comic-Con.  And like every other Star Wars podcast out there, we wanted to get our initial reactions out and into your ears right away!  But, unfortunately, real life intervened, and I was not able to edit the show together until today.  So, like they say, better late than never!

Also, our apologies that this episode ran a little long.  First, we had so much to say about Comic-Con (we edited a 60 minute conversation down to 30 mins), and then we had such fun talking with our guests this week, that we ran long there as well.  --The interview was so fun, we could barely find 60 seconds of it that we dare cut!

Our guests this week are the very fun, high energy husband and wife team of Sarah and Richard Woloski.  They are the force behind one of the most popular Star Wars podcasts out there today, Skywalking Through Neverland.  Their show is the perfect mix of that galaxy far, far away, and all things Disney.  Two great tastes that go great together!

Like we do with all our guests, we asked the Woloski's their Star Wars "origin story", but then also ask for their Disney "origin story".  And then we find out their "origin story" as a couple.  And after talking about everything from Herbie the Love Bug, The D23 Expo and Karaoke, we then take Richard & Sarah on "The Trench Run" as we play a goofy game of movie quotations.

Also this week, we bring back Jason's Jawa Giveaway! (Utinni!)  We are giving away a copy of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens one sheet poster that is currently hanging in theaters across the nation.  To win, all you need to do is post a message on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #Fandomverse.  At the end of the month, we will pull the name of one lucky hashtagger from the old Stormtrooper helmet, and send them the post for free!  So please, go on Facebook, go on Twitter, and lets get the hashtag #Fandomverse trending!

Once again, thanks for your patience this week, and enjoy the show!  May the Force be with you!

EPISODE 031 - Scott Loxley, 501st Legion Hero

Our guest this week is a man who exemplifies the 501st Legion's catch phrase, "The bad guys who do good".  Mr Scott Loxley recently completed a 15,000km trek around Australia to raise over $100,000 for the Monash Children's Hospital, and he did it all in his Stormtrooper armor.  We sat down to chat with Mr. Loxley about his hardships & adventures along the way, and used our Mind Probe to get to know him better as a Star Wars fan.

And even though Scott is back from his adventure, there is still time to donate to the Monash Children's Hospital.  Please send them a few dollars if you can by visiting https://newmonashchildrenshospital.everydayhero.com/au/stormingaroundaustralia

Also in this episode, Dan plays the role of psychologist to dissect Tims aversion to spoilers (and does so without letting any spoilers slip).  And speaking of spoilers, we tease a special two part episode of The Expanded Spoilerverse coming soon!

EPISODE 030 - Michael Corley, from The Vox Box Star Wars Comic Book Podcast

We here at The Expanded Fandomverse Podcast love not just producing Star Wars themed podcasts, but also listening to Star Wars themed podcasts!  We recently stumbled upon the new show, The Vox Box Star Wars Comic Book Podcast, and instantly fell in love with it!  So much so, they we knew we had to have it's creator, Michael Corley, on the show right away!

Michael joins us this week to talk about not just his show, by his work as a storyteller, a voice actor, a magician and his background in radio.  We then bring The Trench Run out of retirement and quiz Michael all about the classic Star Wars comics from Marvel Comics published in the 1970's and 80's.

This week we also chat about some recent Star Wars news, and just a warning, we get a little more into spoiler territory then we normally do.  Nothing major.  Nothing about the storyline of The Force Awakens, just  a few tidbits from the newest Star Wars comics (which are part of the canon now, and MAY later affect the films), and we discuss an image from Mexico that is making the rounds.  And finally, Jason and Tim compare stories about their time inside the plastic pants of a Stormtrooper costume, and some recent adventures they've had both had as TKs.
